9/13 – Speed vs Time Graphs

Always look at the y-axis to see what the y-value represents.

For speed-time graph, a horizontal line means going at a constant speed. This corresponds to a straight, increasing line or a straight, decreasing line in a distance-time graph.

For speed-time graph, up means speeding up and down means getting slower. This is called acceleration. This corresponds to a curve in a distance-time graph.

For speed-time graph, zero means not moving. This corresponds to a horizontal line in a distance-time graph.
